What to lookout for

When you are looking to buy a canvas, there are certain factors that you need to look at.

Here are 7 points the ReadyMadeCanvas.com Experts have put together:

1. Make sure the wood that is used to build the Frame is good quality softwood or hardwood
2. The wood should be of a good depth, at least 36mm (1.5 Inches). If the wood is thinner than it may look "cheap" and may look like a thin mounting board
3. Make sure than Canvas is actually fabric Cotton canvas and not a thin plastic imitation
4. If the Canvas is Cotton Duck, check the weight. All our canvases weigh 9.0oz
5. Make sure that the Canvas is Hand Stretched
6. Make sure that the Canvas is held into the frame with staples, as some canvases are held down into the frame with carpet tacks!
7. If the Canvas is going to be primed, make sure that the canvas has a Gesso Application and not cheap white paint. The advantage of having a canvas primed with Gesso is that the canvas can be used immediately with Oils or Acrylics
